I had a text reminding me that Cecil was due his first booster. Rang to book but the earliest they can fit him in is 27th July. He was due on the 16th June. They said that there is a 12 week leeway and he falls within that so no problem.
Ive booked that because I really like my vet practice and don’t want to swap but I’m a little concerned.
Previously I had missed a date with another dog by a week and was told it wasn’t possible or safe and had to restart the whole thing.
so I’m wondering do jabs become useless after 12 months or do they not. I’d be less concerned If he was older and had a few under his belt- I actually stop at about 10 anyway but I really want to do right by him. He’s 1.
Thoughts?

I very much doubt that the manufacturer can say to the day/week how long the effects of an inoculation lasts.

My vets said 3 month leeway, luckily was able to get mone done over various lockdowns, I wouldn't bother other than they need to be vaccinated to go into boarding kennels, working dogs so too much for MIL too look after plus they would end up really fat!!

There is generally a 3 month leeway on annual vaccs. If you missed a date for a second vacc (of a primary course or a restart course) then that's different -usually only + - a couple of days on lepto element.
Please try not to give your vet a hard time OP - they will be short staffed and short of appointments as a consequence. They don't want to be delaying vaccination appointments, I can 100% guarantee

3 month leeway, but with a younger dog I'd get it done sooner rather than later within this period.
