My feet are size 8 1/2 and I can fit into generously sized 8s but most size 8s are too small. I am looking for some boots, long or short I'm not fussed, which are waterproof and good for walking long distances in. Ideally I could ride in them too but this isn't essential because I have several pairs of riding boots that I can change into.

I need them for my morning dog walks. I am currently wearing a pair of long Ariats but the right one has started to let water in. I can cope with this at the moment (just about) but it will be miserable in winter when my toes will freeze

Any suggestions please? I am fed up of ordering boots on line and finding that they are too small when they arrive.

Ariat Grasmeres. my size 8 ones (and i'm a true 8) are sloppy on my feet like slippers (lovely, i can get thick socks on if i want), super comfy, still totally waterproof after nearly a year of daily wear. sizing is generous, and although they're not cheap they are SO worth it. last winter was the first ever that my feet haven't been frozen while i'm out on the yard etc.

Thanks Kerilli. I've got two pairs of Ariats already and they are both plenty big enough so I may well go for another pair. The only thing that worries me is that the Ariats that I currently use for dog walking are the ones that developed a leak after about 9 months. The other pair are only used for showing so they don't get much wear and tear so I can't tell if I've just been unlucky to get leaky ones!
