My lovely mountian horse sportive high rider blah blah boots died on me this weekend, the zip has split 5 times in two days so I think it's time to retire the poor old things!

I'm just looking for something smart I can use for competing in as well as everyday riding... Any recommendations? I have skinny calfs (only part of me!!) and the ankles always wrinkle on my boots, so any ideas about nicer fitting ones welcome! I guess my limit is aroung £200 :) What do you guys wear?

get the zips replaced if you still like the boots? It usually costs about £15/boot.
I did this recently to an expensive pair of long boots. It's much cheaper than buying a new pair!

I also buy the MH boots due to the sizing options they offer. Also I spend every few months with my hand in my pocket sorting out defective zips (and know many other friends that have had the same experience). The last time they were done at the cobblers and it cost me £40 for new zips and new studs and they usually last unlike the MH originals. However when mine need replacing again I am looking at the Brogini as they are over £100 cheaper and come in an even larger size range, at least then I have got a zip replacement budget spare!

I've had the zips replaced on my MH Sportives. If you can't find a cobbler or saddler locally to do it there is a place called feet first in chesterfield who can do it mail order (you post the boots to them and they come back in about a week). They have a website but that doesn't mentione riding boots it is all hiking or motorcycling boots, so give them a call. They did mine before I discovered a place closer to home that would do them.

I got my mountain boots re-zipped a few times before they decided they were no longer waterproof a good cobbler should be able to do it. Now going to have to have my new ones done as my lad likes eating zips! augh!
