Boots for protection?

I've always had and hacked cob types so this is a new one for me.

My ISH is a bit of a wuss. Where we ride there's lots of gorse which he hates touching his legs and rough rocky ground. We are gentle hackers not competing or jumping. Should he wear boots to protect from cuts etc. (He got one today out hacking) Obviously we try to avoid the gorse.

I have some equilibrium stretch wraps which I used on my previous horse in a different setting. That yard was a "we always wear front boots." Vet told me boots make them overheat and cause more harm
than good.

Current horse got very sweaty under the wraps so I haven't been using them.

Collective wisdom please....??

I would put something on him. Premier equine air cooled event boots are my hacking boot of choice if I have one that needs them. Fast hacks I use NEW xc lite boots

Having hated the earlier versions I have been very impressed with the HUSK boots - lightweight, breathable tough but washable and dries quickly! He hasn’t sweated under them either unlike his previous ones.
