Does anyone know if any company makes boots that would fit a Shetland? Pony currently has plastic support shoes following laminitis but when these come off, farrier would prefer her to go back to being unshod. However, I am worried about concussive laminitis and would like something I could put on her when doing roadwork. Any suggestions welcome.

Mothercare?

Sorry, stupid joke

OP: try asking the usual companies if if you can have measurements of their smallest size, I know they do come up '00' which i think *should* fit a shettie.

For other stuff shettie related I can highly recommend www.dinkyrugs.co.uk

Also we had a minature which had the smallest hooves known to man, so we got some really small neoprene overreach boots which were too big but not so they would fall off & we got a leather-work-man (?) to sew goatskin soles to the boots so they slipped on like little slippers. they were very durable and we put gamgee in the boots to pad out more & we could change this! This worked wonders on a very poorly little pony who struggled to move on hard ground was almost whizzy with these boots on!

Hello,

I bought easycare boots from www.thesaddleryshop.co.uk
for my pony with very small feet. I use the 12mm green
comfort pads as insoles and cut to fit.

The web-site shows how to measure the foot and has
size tables. Unfortunately, only some of the easycare
models come small enough for tiny feet. None of the
other brands were small enough.

The boots were tight at first, but after a few days,
they stretched to fit without slipping. They work
great on tarmac and stony ground, but are slippery
on wet grass.

PM if you want more info.

Hope this helps -- dene

Your farrier has the answer.

You can get Vettec equipak which basically is put all over the sole of the foot which will disipate the concussion.
