boots - good or bad

I always boot for hacking on roads (knee boots) and have a pair of pe sports boots and a pair of brushing boots but I always worry that the heat will damage his legs?? I am confused do boots do more good than bad or more bad than good ??

They shouldn't to the point of it being a problem, especially for roadwork where you won't be hammering about...
