Hi I have a 16.3 ish gelding who has had a ligament injury on his off hind leg in the past ( 4years ago approx). He recently went very slightly lame on the same leg as he had had the ligament injury! So we put him on box rest and He started to get swelling on that leg so called the vet he said to get the swelling down with plenty of turn out and walking every day for 30-45min to reduce the swelling, swelling has gone down very quickly and he has been sound so far!! going to start normal work with him next week as suggested by the vet and if he's still sound the vet has said to carry on as normal. I spoke to the vet and asked if he should still be jumping after having a ligament injury and he said that he could. We don't jump very high but my boy does love to pop over the odd jump!!

Vet recommended stable bandages if he's staying in over night to prevent swelling.

My question is would you put exercise bandages on or tendon boots when jumping/schooling and if so which ones are the best??

Avoid exercise bandages if you dot know how to put them on properly. They cause more harm than good when not used right.

Personally I hate anything on the legs as it will just heat them up.

Well anything on the legs is only for protection from other legs, or the fences or something external, there can be no "support."

Stable bandages keep their legs warm, obviously.
