Knowing absolutely nothing about events and ground conditions etc etc, was wondering if anyone could help me chose from the two.

Pulborough is 20.9 miles away
Borde Hill is 31.1 miles away

Pulborough is on the 29th Sept.
Borde Hill is on the 7th Oct.

Borde Hill runs on permanent pasture. Cross-country is on undulating parkland and through woodland using natural features including water.

Coombelands course is all grass on level ground, with a free draining sandy soil, the going is excellent in all weather. It offers a wide selection of well built fences and an inviting water. The Intro course would be suitable for first timers. There have been some changes and new fences built; designed to provide a good education and build confidence. It will have the maximum number of efforts. Both courses are designed to encourage the horse to enjoy the cross country phase. Take offs and landings are prepared and all weather surfaces added where necessary.

Horsey isn't paticularly fussed by ground but as it's my only event of the season I want to make sure that I pick the right one! We aren't the worlds most confident SJers so the smaller the course, the better! XC is no worries at all although we don't like ditches but we can cope..

Sorry for so many flipping posts!

I haven't been to Pulborough, but went to Borde Hill in May. Myabe the weather (which was absolutely horrendous) has put me off, but I really wasn't a fan of Borde Hill. The dressage working in was very close to xc and not much flat ground - the arenas were also very close to xc - I had a horse gallop past the end of the arena while I was doing my free walk!!!

SJ was ok - my horse didn't go well there, but the going was very bad when I was there.

XC - I didn't think the xc was very flowing but it wasn't very big and seemed to ride ok. Don't remember any ditches either...!

I wouldn't make the journey back there (bearing in mind I'm over 100 miles away and went for weekend and stabled as parents live close by!), it served a purpose for giving horse a run, but I'm not a huge fan!

Pulborough SJ also on a bit of a slope from what I remember, though last year the rain was lashing and SJ's kept falling down in the wind.

Think the XC is more straight forward than Borde Hill though.

i prefer Borde Hill though relatively speaking both pulborough and borde hill are laid out very similarly - the SJ in on a slope at both, and the dressage is very close to the XC at both - they are both very friendly events but Borde Hill is more "grown up" - the courses are slightly more interesting and the ground is more undulating - better water complex too

pulborough SJ is in my opinion flatter than BH. P xc a little smaller and less demanding in my opinion. dressage warm up at bh on a slope...but both events friendly. Have fun and good luck at what eva one u choose!!

PULBOROUGH ! 100%
The ground at Borde can be awful - if we have rain between now and event it can get very deep ! SJ arena is also poor ground, the event there at the end of last season was a complete write off and so many people refused to run cause of the ground and this year they cancelled a day there, I dont think ill enter the oct one. Pulborough on the other hand is a very straightforward event, which i think would be a perfect first time course.
Best of luck for whichever you end up doing !
