Thought I'd pop up another report with some pics, this time from Borde Hill UA on Saturday. Andy and I were in the 80 class and it was his first ODE since he lost his eye in February.
After being so late last weekend, I made sure I had lots of extra time built in, and actually managed to leave the yard when I had planned this time! So plenty of time to walk the XC and watch a bit of SJ once I got there and also for a decent dressage warm up! Andy was a lot better with a proper warm up and scored a well deserved 31.5 for his test, with the judge saying he needed to step under a bit more, but at 21 I think he is doing great.
On to the SJ and he warmed up well, with me making sure I rode a good line to avoid the drifting issues we had at Felbridge. It worked a treat and we had a much straighter, flowing round with just the 4 faults to add :smile3:
Then the best bit! Had a bit of a wait before we went due to a hold on course, but again warm up was great and then we were off! It was a fantastic round, he was in his element and there was not a hesitation or spook at any fence. He made it feel so easy! I let him cruise at his own pace, so we picked up 9.6 time pens but this was still enough for us to squeeze in to 10th place in our section!!! :biggrin3:
Absolutely over the moon with our result, he was so awesome and just astounds me every day with how great he is going at 21yrs old and with just one eye! Hoping to get another ODE in before the end of the season, so fingers crossed his great form continues! :cool3:
