For the second time this week the humble tennis ball has been the cause for accidents, well not the balls fault more the enthusiastic manner which my dogs chase them,
Tuesday trip to beach both b/c's leap into air mouths open to grab the ball , rebel's canine's go through Jazz's roof of mouth , trip to vets follows, thankfully ok with anti ,inflams and antibiotics £95
Yesterday play ball with them seperatly , rebel slams into concrete fence post knocking out small front tooth , tooth not knocked out completly sheared off at gum,
He is fine does'nt appear painfull and eats fine , does this need a vet opinion ?

And there is something in dog's saliva which breaks down the glue and makes the felt come off. I do use them, but sparingly and always as part of ball-on-a-rope type toys.
Funny you posted this, my pup went a-over-t yesterday after his tennis ball on a rope and ran lame for a few strides, I am watching him like a hawk today and asking random people if he looks OK :o

I would take the other dog to the vet to be on the safe side.

Twice my dogs have had head on collisions over balls, both involving Teagan and both times the other dog involved broke a tooth! The 1st time was with Boomer, the 2nd time was with Skye. They do all seem to watch each other now though and 1 backs off, Bertie and everyone else backs off, Skye and Teagan and Star back off, and Teagan and Star will back off, Star isn't so into balls, but if I throw it in the opposite direction to the other dogs she will get it now.

Our lovely red and white collie Sam was chasing a tennis ball one moment in the field and the next i knew,he decided to round up our Welsh Section D,nipped her on the fetlock, then emited a piercing shriek.Blood was running from his mouth and we noticed a few teeth missing, and his big incisors fractured.A trip to the Vets,an insurance claim and a very painful lesson learned. He is now respectful of the horses, but sadly still obsessed with tennis balls.
