Border Terrier advice please

PLEASE HELP. i have 2 dogs one staffy and one border the border is 2 years old and still wont get the house training stuff,

she never goes where she sleeps if she is shut away when im out she doesnt go but in the night she messes on the carpets and today the door was open and she still went in the house,

she also eats the other dogs poo, i cant stop her doing it i have tried being firm being encouraging and bribing the dog,

the staffy ios perfect well manored and house trained its very frustrating as i love her dearly but its starting to make me dislike her

any help please
 
There is no reason to dislike her for it. It is not her fault.

Where does she sleep? and where is she kept when you are out?

Does she always go in the same place on the carpet?

I would go back to basics. Take her out (and stay with her) every couple of hours and make a HUGE exciting fuss of her when she goes and ignore any mess she makes inside. This, along with confining to a small area worked very well with my Border.
 
i don't dislike her its just frustrating as i know she is clever.

she sleeps with me in my bed
and when i am out she is put in the kitchen with a bed.
she goes whereever she doesnt sleep so not my room lounge or kitchen

i will try your advice feed back on the above

Have you had her from a puppy? I ask as we have had a couple of dogs that were about 2 that we've rehomed off of people and they weren't house trained so they took longer - one is nearly 10 and still not 100%

Perhaps reduce it so when you're not in she only has access to one room i.e. the kitchen. Make sure she's had a wee before you go, either in the garden or on a quick walk. Even put some paper down for her just in case and start to reinforce it for her.

Edited: Just re read your post. It's a bit confusing, is she in one room or does she have access to lots of areas?
 
1. Give her one bed to sleep in, in one room. Don't let her have the run of the house at night.

2. Pick up poo immediately. She won't be able to eat it when it's not there.

3. Before bed, take her out in the garden and wait until she empties her bladder and if necessary her bowels - how ever long it takes.

4. When you go out, leave her in the room with her bed. Let her out in the garden before you leave her - again to let her pee/poo.

5. Get into a routine regards her toilet training and use a cue word when she has a wee.
 
hi yes i do all those things when she is shut in one room when we are out,

i feel from reading what people have put its the run of the house at night that may be the issue. i will try your ideas.

also to one of the above, i have had her since a puppy, i have trained dogs before i have a dog that is very clean, this is my first small dog. have people got different experiences with smaller breeds
