My border terriers are now 11 months old but one of them only has one testical could anybody advise if castration is best for him, is this necessary? Someone has told me he may be prone to testicular cancer. He has got such a lovely temperament and would hate to change him.

Yes, do castrate him please. You won't change his temperament by neutering but a retained testicle can indeed turn cancerous. The ONLY thing you'll really change in him is his coat texture (won't stay as wiry) and possibility of weight gain (but proper diet should sort that). The risks of cancer far outweight the coat change / weight gain risks.

My BT had the same problem and was given the snip when he was 3, hes now 13 and completely unchanged.

I'm sure you will enjoy your borders
