Having a nightmare with my yearling as she is SO BORED. We still have 6" of lying snow on top of frozen ground. Even with mains charger and a portable charger she is breaking fences every day and I am counting the minutes until the bl**dy snow goes and there is some grass to pick at! It has now been nearly a month.

She is in at night but I cannot keep her in all day too!

This morning I tied plastic bags on the elec fence to try and keep her away. She started eating them, so I removed them.

Agh. Anyone else having this trouble?

My mare is 16yrs old, and even she's bored! Does your youngster have unlimited hay? Mine's eating over a bale each night, and nearly a bale during the day - expensive I know, but since she's living out 24hrs and there's nothing else I can do with her (can't ride or exercise due to the snow), I figure she's entitled to keep munching! (Obviously I don't have concerns about her weight or I wouldn't be able to do this).
Grooming horses is really good for them, I know we can't ride at the moment, but your youngster would no doubt really appreciate a good hour's groom (great way of keeping fit as well!). Another thing that can be great for times like this (or when your horse is on box rest) is learning a massage routine to use for your horse, which you can use as often as you like - not only keeps the horse in good health and improves performance, but is a great way of spending time with them!
Roll on the thaw - although I'm not looking forward to the mud that'll come with it!

My 4 year old is bored too. My field had a fence running down the middle so you could section it off into 2 if you wished. Well not any more! First one post went, then two and last night went up and the whole fence down! The poles were in various places around the field, so he had obviously not just accidentally knocked them down, but been having a good play with them too!

Quickly got my electric fencing kit out for the fence that separates his field from the owners beautiful garden.............. Just what you need at 8pm at night after a 2 1/2 hour journey home on the delayed train after work!

Mine seems quite happy as long as he has hay to eat and companynext door... he did try straddling the electric fencing the other day when he thought it was time to come in and someone found him stood with his front legs over the bottom line of fencing wondering how to get out!!

We have 5 bored youngsters who get up to so much mischief! they had been in for a week because the yard was so icy but we put them out yesterday.
You couldnt see the electric fencing from the snow so we put old tyres in a row infront of the electric to keep them away one of my youngsters had great fun all morning kicking the tyres and throwing it about at least it broke up the boredom.
