Boredom Buster Ideas

Hey all,

My boy will be coming home from the vets soon and will be on box rest for some time.

I know the usual suggestions of hanging up carrots, he has a treatball (his favourite thing in the world!) and Lickits but I was wondering had any suggestions of new ideas to try

Mine are going mad for Hawthorn currently. I realised that the little pony can’t reach is so have just cut him some branches down which he is enjoying very much. Depending on what your horse is recovering from you can give nettles and cow parsley too.
You could also provide his hay in different places, so if it’s in a net, put one near the door and one at the back. Apple bobbing also kept mine busy when on box rest.

Oh Thank you, I might try that, we have a lot of that near us so will go on a hunt for him thank you He doesn't have Hay in a net he has his on the floor, he likes to get peoples attention by putting his foot in his nets and getting stuck Hopefully when he is allowed in the pen at the front of the stable though I will scatter his hay so he can mooch

He has had surgery on a tendon but will also require steroid injections in future so would like to try and keep it lower in sugar x

In the past I've put different buckets of forage around the stable and bits of tree (can't remember which now) both as a scratching thing and to gnaw on.

hay ball! Mine love it. it slows them down and keeps them eating in a natural position.
