Please could you give me some ideas to keep my horse entertained through the day as he is in 24/7 now as the fields are really bad and just not worth the risk! I have tried hiding food and keeps him entertained but he is getting a bit of a tubby belly! he is fit though! He wont eat any of the lickits or anything like that fussy bu**er! Help me please they will be back out in late march and cannot cope witha depressed horse any more!

Swede on a rope - last longer if hung away from a wall, and not too fattening. Stable mirror, mine spends hours gazing at herself. Stable Ball or Decathlon you can put fibre nuts or chopped carrots in it a last ages.

I buy the bags of 'seasonal vedgetables' in Tesco for 99p then thread them all onto a bit of bailer twine.

Although I take the onions out now because apparently horses don't eat onions (you should have seen my horse's face - she thought it was an apple I think)

hard hay in a haylage haynet with fine mesh - takes ages to eat (unless like my old horse who ate the haynet as well !!)

play radio in stable during day - see if he likes the Archers or a music station

feed readigrass or grazeon to get the 'grass' into him

several of mine live in 24x7 all year round - one would be laminitic, one is agrophobic and panics in the field and another is very aggressive mare - all are totally chilled out but they do get a LOT of hay fed from the floor - the agrophobic horse goes through about 3/4 bale plus having hi-fi, readigrass, mollichop and carrots in his feed
