I have nothing to do! On Sundays I ride and help out at my school but I want to do horsey stuff on Saturday as well! Anyone know of anywhere that needs help looking after their horses? A riding school? I can groom, tack up, lead, turnout, ragwort the fields. I can't muck out because only done it a couple of times.
Sorry it's a bit of a stupid question but if anyone has any ideas. :)

Get the Yellow Pages out, turn to the "Riding Schools" section and phone them all up and ask if they could do with a volunteer on Saturdays. Also try tack shops as I had a voluntary job on Saturdays when I was young cleaning all the tack in a shop on Saturdays. I got £10 as a thank you and it was then immediately spent on one of the horsey VHS tapes in the shop which made Saturday evenings horsey too!

There's not a lot to mucking out so always point out to people that you are willing and quick to learn. Your enthusiasm shines through on your post so I am sure someone would love to have a helper like you! I hope you find something to fill your Saturdays with horsey related activities :)

Oh if only you were nearer, i have a horse and two pones who would love to have a Saturday Girl of their very own.

Guess you just have to go and talk to as many people as you can, riding clubs often need volunteers for events, could be a good way to get to know people and you would be very appreciated.

I don't think you'll have much trouble if you are reliable, you will soon pick up the skills of sweeping, driving wheelbarrows up planks and reversing them down again, carrying six buckets at once etc etc.

The one thing that would put me off having anyone on my place is if they brought hangers on with them, so do ank if you want to bring a friend or family along and don't be offended if they say no. Obviously you want to be safe, so do a little quiet research on anyone who may offer you a place.

Good luck :)
