Bossy Bibs Mane Saver

I have two of them, just wondering if anyone else has used them and what you think of them?

I think they are a great concept, as the bossy bibs are fantastic! But the mane saver is a little out of my price range

They are expensive, had they worked i dont think i would have been bothered but i have rubbed manes even after paying out all that

I have 2 of the bibs-excellent product,best of its kind.
I bought a mane saver(it's combined with a bib too) last year and was frankly,disappointed. It didn't stop his mane coming out and also the Velcro neck strap stitching came undone and the neck part slipped down (towards his withers) and around his neck every time he wore it. Expensive,didn't do the job it was supposed to and not well made, or durable,in comparison to the original bib.

I did think they might slip down and bunch a little.

Shame, as the bibs alone really are good!

I havent complained I was thinking about it that was really why I post incase it was just me having this problem although I have 2 very different shaped horses.

They won't work

The mane falls out due to heat created under the neck rugs opening pours and loosening the hair and it then falls out.

Your horse is either prone to it or not and if it is the ONLY thing that will work is no neck rug.

I'm sorry to say they just a total con.

I've sewn silk under all my neck covers this year & my manes are now all perfect, whereas last year most were rubbed out.

Of course manes can rub out, just as much as they can fall out with heat!

Well yes friction pulls the mane but it only comes out because of heat opening pours


So your mane is intact.? That's a first for me hearing that.

I don't agree with the heat theory, as I've had far more problems with a single layer of loose neck cover than with a double layer which includes a snuggy hood. I think it's the join / creases in the neck cover that's the issue. A few days without the hood last autumn caused a big problem. Since then I've found that a bossy bib mane saver has helped greatly. I also use Megatek (from Horsehealth). However, the test will come soon, as it always seems to be the latter part of the winter that really causes the damage. Fingers are now firmly crossed!

My personal theory is that the mane loss is caused by pressure. When the horse puts it's head down to graze, the neck cover goes very tight over that area of the mane. Try sticking your hand up the neck cover while your horse is eating from the ground.
