Is it safe to feed Boswellia & Devil's claw together? my 20yr section D is currently on Boswellia, glucosamine & MSM for his arthritis/joints, Linseed oil and Apple cider vinegar, he's been on them for a year. In the beginning it was working but in the last couple of months he's got really stiff. He's out 24/7 (he always has been) and he's ridden 4-5 times a week to help his arthritis. I have been reading up on Devils claw and I wanted to know if I can feed it with everything else. The Boswellia is good for their digestive track and as I have heard from some people that Devil's claw can be harsh on their stomach I want to keep the Boswellia going. I can't find anywhere to say if I can or can't feed them together. Please someone help x

I have been really pleased with boswellia for my older ones and have previously used DC with less success but not together so no idea whether it would be ok but if one of mine was getting worse I would probably prefer to use bute which is proven than to chuck more herbs into the mix.
I know some people don't like the idea of bute long term but it is properly tested, it works, it can cause side effects but so can herbs and to my mind they are better having a shorter comfortable life than a slightly longer one in some degree of pain, it may be he just needs it in winter and can have a break over summer when it is warmer.

At that age a Danilon/bute a day won’t hurt and if they have arthritis the vet is likely to let them have it. Probably work out a lot cheaper than all the supplements :) my oldie doesn’t have arthritis but I do give him a supplement with boswellia and I feel it has helped him be more flexible but I’ve never tried devils claw.

My previous YM's old retired gent is on a mix of boswellia and devil's claw, in discussion with the vet. Seems to suit him.
