Heard good things about 4cyte, only thing that put me off before was the price. Does it work out expensive?

I’ve been using KaterK9 equine joint supplement which has no fillers, so far so good.

It's cheaper than most supplements because the dose is tiny, just 4ml a day.

This is really interesting. I recently posted a thread about mine seeming like she's having a bit of a flare up. I've been feeding 15g of boswellia since summer though and only had issues in the last couple of weeks with ulcer-like symptoms. Would any side effects like this be apparent quite quickly or could it take this long to flare up?
I combine it with ArthriAid which I think is absolutely brilliant and have genuinely seen improvements.

It was quick with mine but I believe he got the headaches and not all do. The gut issues would take longer, maybe.

I don't think its more expensive than any of the really good drugs for arthritis - whether pharmaceutical or nutraceutical.

Bozmerix has almost doubled in price since I started using it and hempine isn't cheap either.

Very interesting. I tried boswellia but stopped rather quickly as mine looked like he became very, very dopey. Seriously looked like he had a few doobies. Took him off and he perked back up (it also wasn't strong enough for his arthritic issues)

Just musing....I wonder if gut problems are a dose related problem with Boswellia?

Bosmerix only contains 1.5g of B.serrata (of a high boswellic acid %)
Riaflex and forage plus boswellias are both approx 65% BA, and recommended feeding levels are around 8g daily.... I have fed this level with no issue, but horse had looser droppings when on a higher dose.

YCBM was talking about feeding 30g daily, so could the total amount of resin be causing an issue, rather than the Boswellia itself...so feeding a small amount of high potency boswellia may be the best way?

That’s helpful, thank you

Currently spending about £40 a month on a joint sup, 4cyte works out about £1 a day on 4ml so not actually to bad!

I’m feeding Faran boswellia, turmeric and cinnamon at the moment. He’s also getting probiotic and I was considering adding some aloe juice but wasn’t sure since he’s getting the cinnamon which is good for digestion and stomach issues apparently. I have changed his diet quite a lot since Nov and that’s what the probiotic was for.

I haven’t noticed any sore tummy symptoms, I was considering the aloe juice because he’s on box rest and away from his friends just to try to help a stressy stomach but he has honestly not been all that bothered. He gets his two weighed and soaked haynets a day and his feed has been split into two as well. So he’s never long without something to line his stomach, I’ve been very aware of that.

It could be. The one I have on bozmerix has a problematic gut (suspected worm damage when young) & I've never had an issue with her on it. I couldn't get her to eat plain boswellia - the smell put her off

This is so interesting thank you for posting TCBM, I started my horse on Boswellia and it really seemed to help joint wise but I started to see increasing signs of him being grumpy and signs he had gastric discomfort, this was after about a month, I searched online for this being a thing with Boswellia and decided I must be paranoid as all I could find online was that it was good for the gut but I stopped for a while and things settled down. I then decided to try him on a different brand and it was clear quite quickly that we were heading back down the same path with his behaviour so stopped it and will not be trying it again but this thread has made me realise perhaps I wasn't being so paranoid!

Wow so interesting. My older cob is on boswellia and increasingly grumpy which makes sense now as it isn't like him. Will investigate alternatives.
