just wondering if anyone has experiences of this as an inflammatory etc and alternative to bute? Literature suggests it is better than Devils Claw without the long term side effects. Thinking about it to help my boy who is having problems with his feet (navicular syndrome, collapsed heels) using alongside MSM etc. Found what seems to be a good supplement at Pegasus Health http://www.pegasushealth.com/Products/Bone%20Hoof%20Joint%20&%20Muscles/FlexiMover.htm
Obviously wouldnt be using to mask pain so I can ride him, just to make him more comfortable whilst he undergoes remedial farriery (wedge heels)

i use it. i get it from naturalhorsesupplies an eBay shop they are very good. my horse damaged his collateral ligaments - one in each front hooves they said he had very slight changes in his coffin joints and they were medicated too. all this was diagnosed via m.r.i. scan. i use this herb as well as others and all i can say is that he is sound and competing successfully again, so like to think it works !!

Yes I use the global herbs version. Did you know that it is actually frankinsence?

My horse does very well on it with his side bone, bone spavin and clicky pasterns.

I am currently using it on my mare who is on "pasture pet leave" for her tendon injury. Definitely has made her more comfortable when she was initially pretty lame on her leg (vets advice after no improvement on box rest, was to do old fashioned chuck her out and see if she comes sound this time, as we have done the box rest/shock wave/vet treatments to death all last year on it and she has broken down again after being sound for six months).

Initially when she was very sore on her leg, I gave her the optimum dose for her size and I would say I am almost 100% sure it gave her considerable relief equivalent to bute. Have now reduced it, as she has improved loads and she is still showing good signs of improvement, so my plan is to reduce further every few weeks till she is hopefully sound without, then give her a further period of paddock rest and hopefully try to rehab her again.

I get mine from Natural Horse Supplies on Ebay too and highly recommend them.

Ive fed it for a year or so, & it makes a big differance when combined with a joint supp for my oldie.

I did however get an even bigger differance for him when using Bute X, it's main component is Boswellia but it also has some other stuff in it. However i found Bute x to espensive. I also buy my Boswellia from Natural horse supplies, occasionally i buy from Metabolic horse but they don't take online payments so it's a bit messy.

Hi
I use the Joint + Relief supplement which contains devil's claw, boswellia, Glucosamine and chondroitin sulphate on my old boy who has arthritis. It seems to have the pain relieving effect of 2 sachets of bute/day and he hunted all last season on it. Devil's claw alone just doesn't do the job and the whole tub lasts more than a month for £25! Better than cortaflex :-)
