Horse came in yesterday with some eggs first time since I've owned her, I removed all eggs. Should I worm straight away for bots? As a just in case. From worming time table it says worm for bots in winter! Surely damage could be done between now & then.

Eggs are usually laid on the forelegs so that horse cleans them off and ingests them into the stomach where they stay dormant until winter and then they hatch into larvae -it is these larvae that do the damage- worm for bots in winter- after the first hard frost. No wormer will get rid of/kill the eggs, so it would be pointless now. Obviously cleaning them off the legs reduces the numbers taken in, so is a good idea in the meantime-but you will never get them all-so worming later in the year is your safety net!!!
