We have been looking at a potential new horse, been to see it twice, although I was C**p riding it I think it will be eminently suitable for my daught and me once I start riding regularly again (have 4 month old baby).
All seemed to be going well, owner wanted to know if she could come and see where she would be going - fine, no probs. Had a call yesterday, owner has had argument with her mother who was going to be taking her to a show this Sunday, mother wont take her so could she come and visit us 'just incase'. I am slightly peeved, but not as peeved as I would be if she came after the vetting and said we couldnt have her.
I personaly think our horse facilities are excellent and our other 3 live a fab life, however, I am keen on horses living like horses, as naturaly as possible, 24hr turnout (apart from in realy grotty weather), forage rather than hard feed etc etc. The prospective new horse is very mollycoddled. The owner was debating putting a rug on her when we were all out in t shirts! and she is a heavy weight cob who is wayyyy overweight. She might think our way of doing things is cruel or harsh.
The argument was becuse the mother of the vendor does not want her to sell the horse, she wants her to turn her away. I have a nast feeling this one may not be a goer
