Bots in Scotland!!

I have never seen bot eggs on any of my horses in Scotland up till now. But to my horror!!! my horses have the eggs on their legs. Are they migrating up here now?? perhaps with the climate change. Have any other people in Scotland seen them on their horses yet?

no not seen any yet but the best thing to get rid is net tex do a product that removes them!

One of my horses had them many many years.Only remember as had to go and buy one of those 'bot' knive and scrape off eggs think it was.
But haven't seen anymore since then right enough

Dont think it is new--had them many years ago in Scotland but none recently.
It may have more to do with how much treatment cattle around you are getting/or not.
Scrape eggs off with bot knife and destroy
Make sure horses get ivermectin or moxidectin (kills larvae in horses stomach) after the first frost (kills flies)

My horses used to get bot fly eggs on their legs in summer, we lived west of Central Belt.
