Bought a horse and was told so many lies- advice

When we got a horse on loan whose passport had gone missing (long story) trading standards were VERY helpful, as it is their area, and they seem to be responsible for dealing with these issues. The PIO's are markedly less helpful I find!
If she has been chipped, has it now been scanned? Although you do hear sometimes they can't find the chip in the animal!
The BHS line are very helpful when you can actually get hold of anyone, so if you are a member, maybe worth a call to them.
 
I had the chip scanned and looked into it to find she was chipped in Ireland but was never registered to anyone. :( she's 9. I will try BHS line and I'm waiting to hear back from trading standards. :) thanks
