omg - i went in the school this morning - put my cream jods on as i wanted to look smart for photos to send to my ponys owner who is in hospital having hip replacement - any way i thought we had progressed really well and were both looking good, pony had started coming down and working well and i was feeling proud of myself as im not a good rider and id had to do it all myself as cant afford lessons - it just goes to show that you shouldnt get too carried away as just come home and looked at photos with my glasses on! and what a state - pony doesnt look too bad but i look sooooo fat with nice bulges across my belly legs completly in the wrong place sitting hunched over in a dreadfull position and the cream jods WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!! legs like tree trunks - feel a real failure in every way now! BUGGER!!!!!!

cream jods always a no no unless you're twiggy, i made that mistake once, thought they looked great in the mirror, then someone videoed me riding, OMG! never again

I am sure its not that bad! we are all harder on ourselves than other people see us!! I must admit- cream jods arent the best for self confidence if your having an off day!! Dont worry- ask someone with photoshop to get to work on the pictures!! they can make you like a stick insect! ha ha

There are very few photos of me that I like - I always pick faults in how I look or my position. Don't be too critical of yourself and I'm sure your ponies owner would be really grateful of some pics to cheer them up in hospital.

It is hard for anyone to look good in beige or white jods unless your size 0! I am sure you do not look that bad, I have seen some awful pics of top riders. We can not look perfect all the time. I alsways tell people I may get there horses going nicely etc but it does not mean I will look pretty! Then they can at least expect the worse

No one looks great in biege jodhs! (unless they are a stick!)
Im sure they are not as bad as you think, i always think I look awful in photos of me riding and have been told I dont look as bad as I think (they may just be being nice though

My trainer has the answer to this age old problem - ride every day, start competing, work very very hard and before long you will be able to get into top hat n tails and become the diva you have always wanted to !!!

Yeah, Yeah.

thanks guys - i will devinatly look into the photo editing (have never heard of photo shop) my OH is a computer technition so he will hopefully make me look like jodie kidd!!! Dont feel quite so bad now but will NEVER EVER wear those jods again!!
I might post a 'lets see your worst riding piccy' over the weekend will you all post one??

Ah cream jods! They are so unflattering! My tip for having photos taken whilst riding in them is to do lots of rising trot....and get the photo taken when you are at the top of your rise. Makes your legs look thinner!! Plus a flattering, well cut, dark coat/jacket and you will look great!

I have loads of photos I can add to the worse riding picture post!!!

Honey if you want BAD then I did a Masterclass for HORSE mag, wearing cream breeches and a light pink t-shirt and I almost cried when the thing was published - rolls of fat everywhere for the whole world to see

People might think I ride very long because I am some kind of aspiring dressage diva, or maybe because my damaged hip and pelvis won't cope with more acute angles...that might be partly true but the real reason.....

....riding long makes my legs look less stump like and my torso look slimmer

Lesson one: Cream/beige/white jods are a no no unless stick thin or for competition when I wear them under duress.

Part of the reason I took to s/saddle was so's a veil would cover fast breeding wrinkles and the apron covered my lardy arse!

Can highly recommend darker coloured check breeches (Bentex are nice!) which hide a multitude of sins
