Just want some advice as no one to bounce my thoughts off at home or yard

went on holl so mare had 10 days off, before I went we had a really good jumping lesson and she seemed to have come on leaps and bounds

Back form holls lunged her for two days mainly due to lack of time, 1st day brill not a foot wrong 2nd day bucking etc but tought it was just her getting rid of excess energy

3rd day went on a hack normally route with one other, very bouncy and felt very tense and ready to explode at any point so keept my hands light and just let her walk out. Not spooky just forward going and throwing head around, general getting knickers ina twist

4th day rode in school again very tense and collied spring, so stayed in walk letting her walk out on a loose rein then some trot did not ask for any outline just let her trot forwards

5th day hacked agion forward going not spooky just "fast" and jogged a bit tried to ride with soft hands and just let her go was in company again and a well known route

6th day (yesterday) back in school nightmare - walk to canter sodd the trott bit!!! So stayed in walk and worked her on figure 8, circlues etc

So I have taken out the 1/2 scoup nuts from her feed so now just onHi Fi light and carrots and vitamin supplement (she is full TB)

So do i get on in school today and she what happens and just let her walk out etc, try and "work" her more ask for a outline which she can give, lunge before I get on any ideas please

Take out the carrots. High in sugar, which you won't be needing at this time of year with the grass coming through.

You say soft hands and letting her go, but what happens if you say "No! Listen to me"? It sounds, from what you've said, that she's had her wee holiday and now she's taking the mickey.

The usual about having all checked, especially if she's changed shape over the last two/three weeks with time off and being out and being fed.

If your worried I personally would lunge to get the excess energy out of her before riding. Also you say she is full of beans etc if she wants to canter could you not just canter her a lot until she has got the excess energy out and then try working her properly rather than just on a long rein? Might help tire her out and take the edge off :)

My tb mare is exactly the same!

She is always forward going etc (very green) but normally quite calm, will have the occasional jog etc.

Last 2 weeks she has gone nuts! Tense/stressed cant think or concentrate and like you say like a coiled spring, back end all over the place, throwing her head about the lot! Feels like we have gone back to stage 1!

I have a lesson on Thursday so will see what my instructor thinks - Im hoping its just the time of year, grass (have cut out feed totally even though she was only on a handful of mollichaf calmer and a cup of baileys lo-cal).

Disheartening isnt it when they just dont listen at all :-( fingers crossed it settles down soon!

Faith 123 heres praying its just time of year as she was a real pleasure before holls. Going to try and get a lesson next week as instructor normally says shes not that bad come on get on with it!

Haha I hope so!

People have said to me put your leg on and ride her through it..... my friend got on her thursday night and realised its not that simple - referred to her as "just like a baby!"

She is on Magic as well - obviously isnt touching her at the moment so just cut it out - going to try that Relax Me as she is so stressed out and anxious - im just lucky she isnt a horrible mare, just doesnt understand and gets herself in a tizzy about it

Sounds like her break has refreshed her. Personally I would just give her plenty of exercise, hacking out daily for a good. Couple of hours for a week until the immediate spring has gone out of her step and shes
