To improve my jumping in need my horse to be more powerful from her behind, my instructor told me to work her in a bouncy canter upto jumps. i really cant get her to do this

i check her and apply my leg but she is really senstive and just bugers off!! lmao i work on her flat and she is brill , including this bouncy canter but point her at a fence she goes flat and does'nt jump them correctly.
Any suggestion on how i could slow her down without using a stronger bit or going back to basics .??

Short answer is no! You do need to go back to basics a bit I am afraid! Have you tried lots of grid work - I found bounce grids very helpful for getting them to remain powerful from behind. Also, lots of place poles which should help her to stay in the same rhythm and not go flat.

Agree back to basics, unless your horse has a naturally bouncy canter. Snoop is naturally bouncy, but i was struggling with him rushing off.
Ive been doing more grid exercises, coming out of trot and lots of bounces.
Although ive found taking the martingale off has completely changed him.

I dont find putting a stronger bit is the answer, it is for some, but i wouldnt until youve tried other options.

Excercises like 4 poles on a circle and practising keeping the rhythm also helps.
