No not my horse!!!
Saw a mare in a field of gypsy type ponies today, she was one of about 12 running with a very fruity traditional stallion!
One of her front legs looked really deformed, slight twist to the hoof and almost concave in the tendons.... Is this a bowed tendon?
I have never seen such a sorry looking leg, I presume the mare was being used a brood mare, she was a real sweety and didn't look particularly lame (she was just mooching, weight bearing).
Does anyone know about this kind of conformational problem? What causes it? Is it fair to breed off a mare with this kind of problem?
It was sad to see all the really quite average mares being bred off, the stallion wasn't even a real head turner... My pet hate all this over breeding!
Pointless post really just curious about a subject i'm ignorant on!
