Has anyone used this treatment for their horse and if so with what results and over what period of time. How does this treatment vary from other equine massage ? Thanks

I have just started it with my boy, he had his first session a week ago!
He was happy enough to have it done, did look stiff an awkward the next day, which can happen especially if they have a lot of problems, but now he looks to be moving better!
He is having his second session tomorrow and will probably have a third soon after!

Is it acute/sudden onset (like from an injury) or chronic/on going back pain?

If it's acute he may be right after one treatment depending on the health of the tissue. If it's an ongoing thing it may take 2-4 treatments to be fixed.

Every horse is different, in some you may see a drastic result straight away. Some horses may develop Delayed Onset Muscle Syndrome/Soreness after their treatment and feel a bit stiff and sore for a day or so after, sort of like a person may feel after a massage therapist has gotten stuck into a sore muscle on them.

Bowen continues to have an effect on the body for up to a week after a treatment, this is why it is important to give your horse time to let the treatment take hold. Normally 24 hours is enough.

If you want to know what it feels like for your horse and see how long results can take, I would throughly recommend going and having a treatment done on yourself.

I am studying it, so if you have any more questions - feel free to ask :)

Thanks NaeNae she hadn't been ridden for two weeks due to heavy snow and realised straight away she was sore through the lower back presume she has done it larking around in the field as prior to this was jumping 1.10 fine no issues.
I have used a tens machine on her lower back which has helped a bit. My back is also aching from pushing wheelbarrow in snow and mud so as you suggested found someone about 20 miles away who is willing to come out tomorrow and sort me out ! .I will discuss our mare with her during my session and will let you know how it goes.

I am very interested in this form of treatment and would like to keep in touch by pm .

Well my boy is responding well to the Bowen Therapy, I was not to sure at first as he seemed to look worse for a couple of days after the first session!
He has just had the second one this morning and he is much more supple and brighter in himself!
I am pleased that I decided to try this, other people at my yard have also noticed the difference in him!:)

Ok, so more acute. That's good :)

Both my two lucky lab rats (I mean horses) have ongoing biomechanical issues. One damaged his front right suspensory when racing and also has a slight roachback... So he has sacroilliac problems and issues in his left hind. My other one has sacroilliac problems too, but his pelvis slightly rotates and his whole hind end can go into spasm. They are one of the reasons I decided I wanted to treat horses. I have seen some incredible results not just in my two, but in others I have treated. It is very rewarding.

The tens machine will help, but just be mindful if her back is sore then her abdominal muscles will probably be conpensating for her back muscles is some way. So releasing the tension in her back will feel good for a bit, but it won't be a permanent fix, it's more of a complimentary therapy. :)

One word of advice for your treatment... Make sure you drink lots of water, if the tissue in your body is well hydrated the treatment tends to work a bit better. I normally fell like I have been hit by a Mack truck after my treatments for about 1-2 hours, then I start to feel good. My therapist says she feels energised and almost bounces off walls... both reactions are normal. haha

Yea, let me know how your girl goes and feel free to PM me :) Take before and after pictures too. You would be surprised how much difference can be seen!

All sounds positive, pleased for you that your horse is making progress pines. Will post after my session tomorrow !
