I'd be interested to hear of anyone's experiences good, bad or otherwise with Bowen therapy and how it compares with physiotherapy or chiropractic (of which I have experience) and osteopathy (of which I dont).

I'm considering having my ned looked at by a Bowen therapist as I feel like he's not 100% and it's been a 9months or so since he was last checked over. I don't know that much about it though, so am just going on a friend's recommendation.

So, any comparisons/differentiators or words of wisdom on any of the above techniques would be gratefully received!

I am sure my response will get shot down, but I would have to say go with a properly trained physio or chiro or osteopath, Bowen is one of those holistic "woolly" therapies that I see as being a fringe treatment along with Rikki etc.

I have a friend who's dog was transformed by a good physio and I know from my own experience how useful they can be on humans. My sister swears by her osteopath (osteo's and chiropractors are really much the same and as professionals I understand they are going to combine as one professional therapy).

Thanks Tracey. That's what I had thought, having briefly looked at some of the websites. Still, there's nothing like a personal opinion either way to help one make up their mind!

Is Bowen therapy similar to neuromuscular massage? My horse has that done every 4 months by an Australian therapist who tours the world, and we are lucky enough to be at a yard close to where he stays when in England.

My horse hates having it done, but the improvements to his flexability and suppleness a few days later are amazing. I then have to give him specific massages every day, 'to keep him going' until the next time he gets his proper massage.

I also have my horse's back checked by a traditional chiro once a year as routine.
