How many of you use it for you horses/competition horses etc and what are your thoughts/experiences? I know this method doesnt work for all horses (as with all the other various methods availible) but would appriciate all types of feedback :) x

Brilliant, it has worked really well on all of ours, especially on one mare where we couldnt quite put a finger on what was wrong with her, also my event rider had herself done (and she is the most sceptical person in the world) has suffered with her back for years and always having physio and chiro, she gave it a try and cannot believe the difference and also how much better she is now sleeping.

Clipcloppop on here is our bowen therapist, added to the fact she is a saddle fitter too she checks everything out so a real MOT for them.

I use it for my pony - not really a competition pony now as he's knocking on a bit although he used to be.

I used to have a FABULOUS guy who would come to Cheshire from Worcester! He was absolutely magic - would put my pony into an absolute trance. Since I moved him (pony not therapist!) I use a more local therapist and the pony didn't react quite as favourably to her (got a bit stroppy) but both therapists do seem to have had a favourable effect on him. He was definitely less stiff after his last session.

I do like it as a therapy as it is so gentle and you can see that it is having an effect of some sort by the way the horse reacts to it.

Absolutely brilliant! I use Krystyna Monks who has worked wonders on my horse. I started to use her as my horse stamps with one of his hinds plus he hurt the other hind leg by hooning around. Since having bowen, he is a lot less tense, the injury has cleared up, moving a lot better and a lot less stamping (barely any). I now get her out every 2-3 weeks to see my horse.

Ill try and find the before and after photos, I think it made quite a big difference anyways!

Thanks guys - my boy had his first treatment yesterday and I was quite taken aback by his behaviour (in a good way) It didnt really look like much was going on however when she got to his flanks (where she could feel some tightness) he was literally sucking them in if that makes sense - I am a bit of a sceptic sometimes but i found it quite fascinating. He also drank a huge amount which I was told was because of the treatment being given which again i marvelled at!

my practitioner said Normally a difference is seen after the second session (not that i can ride anytime soon due to the weather anyway ) so I will be very very interested to see if this works for him to make him a bit looser and slightly more free in some movements.

missparis before and after pics would be great to see. xx

I used Martine Weber from Tunbridge Wells and found the 2 session made a big difference.

There was no big issue with my horse, just some general stiffness on one rein and some days he goes into the contact better than others. He's had numerous sessions of physio and osteo in the past but have never made a difference.

Martine explained everything she was doing and was very thorough, told me things about him when ridden that were so accurate, despite never having seen him. She said she could tell he was a bit wary of his shoulders (she found some tight spots), and at times will try and come behind the bridle and kind of hop to avoid using his shoulders fully, and she was spot on there. She even had a look at the fit of his saddle and commented on his feet and shoes.

She also said that if 2 or 3 sesssion didn't make a difference then the problems weren't muscular and to try difference routes, whilst my physio just kept coming and coming and coming... After 2 Bowen treatments he did feel much free-er through his body and was going really well. Until the snow lol.

Risby LOVED his sessions and actually stopped eating his hay (miracle) to go into a trance and close his eyes.

Dressager - Your boy sounds pretty similar to mine; he also had no massive issues just finding the lateral work harder than expected and was pretty tense/stiff when asking for these movements hence trying the Bowen. My lady also said if there is no difference after approx 3 sessions then to start investigating other reasons for the tension. Its really good to hear all these positive storys, I had a very positive experience for his first treatment so hoping (when i can finally ride  ) to see some sort of difference/improvement in the near future

I use it on mine. First time I watched we called it fairy dust treatment and said there was no way this would work...and it did!!

Im not going to train myself as was so impressed!

I use it on mine too & have had a couple of treatments myself. Don't know/understand how it works, but it seems to help them. Last time one of mine had a treatment he lay down & went to sleep before we'd finished! They love it. My therapist is excellent. If it hadn't been for her I wouldn't have called the vet to look at my previous horse. It turned out he was suffering from a very serious illness & I will be eternally grateful for her help & advice.

I'm a massive fan, it literally transformed my 87 year old mums life. She was crippled with sciatica, couldnt get into/out of bed, could only hobble a couple of metres bent double with 2 sticks etc.

She was written off by her doctor, neurosurgeon, the pain clinic, sent home from hospital and told nothing further could be done. She was taking the most incredible numbers of pain killers and nothing worked.

In desperation we tried bowen, not really expecting anything. She had 3 sessions and is completely pain free!
