box rest & bute???

had the vet out to my girl this morning as she has been quite sore behind for the past few days (reason unknown)
she now has bute & 2weeks boxrest
does this ever actually work?

All horses ive ever know doing this (not many as were on a small yard) always need treatment/xrays etc in the long run? i would much rather of paid for scans now than playing the waiting game

Depends what the vet thinks is wrong If he doesnt know I would get an investigation done

I think the rationale is that the issue may be something minor that will resolve, and if it isn't, then it's unlikely any more harm will be done whilst the horse is on box rest.

Not necessarily view I agree with, but it depends on the issue, and the vet.

we 'think' when she has been out with the babies one of them (a filly) may have made her sore by trying to mount her whilst playing

On the other hand she appears to be trying to mount anything and everything could that be a sign of anything
