Unfortunately my boy got kicked and has fractured a bone in his knee and is now on box rest for a while. Im just looking at his diet to make sure its the best i can.
He is currently on damp hay (wont eat properly soaked and its to get any dust out more than anything as im feeding it in haynets for a while) spaced through the day and then late evening. I have started him on some readi grass a couple of times a day just for some different type of forage.
He was on un molassed hi fi, fiber cubes, linseed and brewers yeast which ive kept him on but just reduced the amount. He was in full work on this and some alfa a pellets and seemed to cope well on it and good grass. Now he is in on hay only and next to no hard feed i was wondered what is a good multi vit supplement that i could put him on? Its mainly while he is on box rest but i may keep him on it depending on how we go.
Does this sound good? Or is there anything i could do to improve/change it?

Fibre and more fibre. Dont worry what he looks like, just keep his gut moving.

I did 11 months with a very big horse in. I gave him plain water and a bucket of squash to keep him hydrated. He had his calmer in damp bran and chaff plus Dodson and horrell multi vit and linseed.

Your biggest threat in a box rester is colic.
