Having specatularly fractured his elbow on sunday and had a huge amount of metalwork inserted to fix him, Bruce (aka bionic dog) now has 7 weeks 'box rest' before being reassessed. The specialist wants him restricted but not crated ( play pen on order) and he is allowed 10 mins lead exercise 4-5 times a day. He also has to not gain weight so as to not put additional pressure on the joint...... not easy for a manic spaniel who is already on tiny diet rations to keep his weight stable!
So... has anyone got any suggestions on how to keep him occupied / quiet? He's been home 3 days and is already driving me potty - he's doing really well but just doesn't understand why he can't do all the things he loves doing. I suspect I will be asking the vet for something to keep him quiet... when I spoke to him last he suggested diazepam... One for Bruce, one for me I think!!
Any suggestions gratefully received
