Box rest

,mt 5yr old 16.3 has been put on a minimum of 3 wks box rest as she has done her tendon/ligament half way up rear leg and around hock, started to reduce swelling any coments on feed and entertainment for her. She i is in double stable looking out on busy farm yard but not happy bunny! thanks.

Only the obvious really which is to remember to cut down the quantity of short feed.

Hi, my mare is onbox rest too after surgery on both hocks :s

I have started using Lucie Brix, they are like 1kg bricks of compacted chaff so take longer than hay or feeds to eat and are designed to mimick (sp?) natural grazing

I think the trick is ad lib hay /haylage and low concentrates depending on how well your horse keeps condition. Lucky you have a double stable! A stable mirror (mine cost 25 pounds at my saddler, so won't break the bank may help her too.
