HELP!

My boy has developed a ansty habbit of box walking. As much as I love him it can be a right pain in the prosteria! In winter I pay close to twice as much as everyone else on bedding and probably again on feed 'cause he is a TB.

Anyone got anything on how to calm box walkers down, or anything as I want to try and get it sorted before this winter!

Thanks!!

try mirrors in the stable so he has a ' friend' - it worked with my friends horse.

Would that help as there is always at least one horse in with him..... and i would be worried about him leaning against them and breaking them!

my mare only does it when she is on her but soon calms down and when its feeding time, no option to turn her out as she wont turn out on her own and the rest are in throughout summer.

Mine old girl box walks and drives me mad too. So will be interested in any ideas anyone has.
She does it whilst I'm getting dinners ready, after dinner before turning out (whilst waiting for the slow eaters to finish-she gate walks if out on her own) and if I take one of the others out for a ride, even though there is always another left with her! Oh, and when she is stressed, such as when there is a thunder storm or fireworks. She is a complete stress-head!

My girl box walks (well she would more stomps, I think she would trot if she thinks she could!) another hot blooded animal with too much intellgiance for her own good. I hang stuff round the edges of the box or from the ceiling, just like plastic bottles that will make a noise or lick it, salt lick, balls etc. It seems to work, she gets distracted by what she passes and generally calms down. Once you break the habit of box walking it's relatively easy to manage. If she's staying in for any length of time I have a ball that gives out cheap pony nuts, kinda messy on the bed though cos she kicks it all over the palce and digs for the reward.

My boy box trots (well tries his hardest) and makes such a mess in the stable through the winter, I love the summer though, as they are out 24/7 if you want them to be. He's a stress head too, even if one is out and the rest are in the yard he gets up tight and moody, and then when I go to let him out he takes it out on me and head butts me in the boob! I now just have to get up there earlier than everyone else and let him out lol!
