Hi
My horse who is currently on sales livery has started box walking; as I posted in a separate thread she was sold subject to vetting but the sale didn't go ahead as she has some from of skin irritation/ reaction to insect bites which lead to the loss of hair in her saddle area and consequently she can't be ridden at present. The skin irritation has been treated and there has been no more loss of so I am not particularly concerned about that; however box walking is not something she has done before. Prior to going on sales livery she was out at night the majority of the time and spent some time in during the day; when she mostly appeared to sleep! On the sales livery yard she is in at night and on individual turnout during the day, with horses in adjacent paddocks. She is on rubber matting and shavings at the sales livery yard and was on straw at home. I am concerned about this becoming an ingrained habit as this is something she has not done before. She isn't in work at the moment which won't be helping. I am not sure what to suggest; other than asking the sales livery to turn her out overnight. She is being given huge amounts of hay and haylage.
