This is for all those poor members here who have horses that are currently on boxrest. How did it go today???

Well, to start it off - just one sentence could explain everything: If looks could kill!!! Failing that, she really tried to do so with the use of teeth and all four feet!!!

So I gave her a sachet of GlobalHerbs Instant SuperCalm but OH wanted to get back home asap and so did not want to wait the 60 min. it takes for the stuff to kick in. We only have one car at the moment - which I can't drive as I'm not yet on the insurance, so I had to oblige, and I actually had to hand-walk her in the state that she was in.

She was fizzy straight away and seemed really mad at me. She gave me those looks... you know, when you can see the whites in their eyes, with their head held up high and looking down on you! Then, she tried biting me several times with her mouth wide open (not nibbling, but really viciously wanted to bite, again with her eyes wide open), following which she would quickly turn and try striking out with her front feet. She also tried rearing, but thank God wasn't too successful today. She did two rounds in the school without trying to do anything, but just when I thought she calmed down, BITE-BITE-STRIKE-STRIKE.

OH didn't know what I was dealing with until I passed her on to him for a good minute or so, and he realised what I had to deal with.

Seriously, try dealing with a horse like that for 30-40 minutes in the school. I felt like I was in the boxing ring!

.

I don't have one on box rest at the moment, but when the Dizzy one was, there was one day that was awful

I'd let her boss me about a bit in the morning, nothing drastic, just pushing me around a bit. In the afternoon she was using her teeth to hold me so's she could kick me, and using her feet to kick me into her waiting teeth, and in the middle she was squidging me into the stable wall

. We had to have a bit of a discussion involving the use of a schooling whip

. She's too damn big to do that! Thankfully when she walked out she was back to behaving.

I need hot chocolate after that!!! Sitting at the computer with little dog on my lap who is a small version of horsey. Just as temperamental, but because you can fit her into a jug, it's not too bad. Little dog would be deadly if she was 16.2hh!!!

Will see... OH sometimes can get moody when bored. He's better when he can do stuff with my horse as he won't get bored, but in this state, I'd rather not partner them up together!!!

I think that discussion with the schooling whip is looming. I was eyeing the schooling whip in the car before we set off for her stable, but decided to leave it there!!!

Oh hun, what a horrid day. ((((((hugs))))))

We've actually had an ok one. It was raining this morning, so decided not to ACP and walk. Which stopped me wining myself up.

was grooming and it brightened up, out came the sun. Hmmmm, what to do? No time left, on went the boots and off we went, with a HUGE pile of carrots.

Well, to whoever suggested carrots, it worked!!!! She only trotted 3 steps and one spook. No bad.

Walk this eve, no spooks and no trotting!!

Tomorrow however, is a different day
