boxrest suggestions

Treat balls. Hanging licks from ceiling. Someone once hung a swede from the curling of their stable! You could do some target training (google clicker training for horses)

Pull up loads of nettles, good as a natural detox, also pick hawthorn, cleavers, gorse they will help occupy her but safe for laminitics plus good for them.

when I had to keep my boy in (who is usually out 24/7) I hid loads of carrots and apples around his bed :/ messy bed but amused horse!

Thanks for the suggestions, i have just looked up clicker training and will give it a go - sounds like fun
Also the nettles etc.. when she is well I take her foraging and feed her nettles and milk thistle when its about but wasnt sure I should with the laminitis so i def will now.. following on from the treat idea I might try putting some hawthorn in a place where she needs to stretch a bit to get it

She was v sorry for herself until the vet started her on the bute and then the
' I dont hurt so get me out of here ' attitude started and its only day 1 .... :):)

Salt lick and horse mirror, our mare was on box rest for 2 months when she ripped her back shoe off and sliced all four legs open in the trailer- don't ask!kept her amussed also we find just taken them out for tiny weeny walks really help the boredom!

A radio!

Don't take too much notice of me though - I have a v highly strung ancient TB who thinks that the way to get out of the second day of box rest is too weave his head into the doorjamb - this despite half a tube of Sedalin.

I am told a radio is benefical to normal horses....

My horse is on week 5 of box rest. He has become more relaxed about it, resigned to watching his friends from afar!

I give him a ball with some low cal balancer in which keeps him entertained and he has a salt lick. Hay in nets with small holes so it takes longer to eat - I have several rings up so I can hang it in different places for variety!!

Don't forget you can also entertain them by grooming them, massaging them or just sit and read a book so they have some company..........

When my friend has hers in she plays classic fm - apparently they like it!
