Just read this, I feel so sorry for poor Joshua who tried to rescue Ben, how dreadful for him

But cant help wondering why on earth they were on the ice to begin with and why there was no adult with them.
 
Whatever the rights or wrongs this is an absolute tragedy. My heart goes out to the family, they must be devastated beyond belief.
 
I hope that mine wouldn't go on ice, but you don't know what your kids will get up to when you aren't around. The older brother at 12 was plenty old enough to be out alone & potentially ok to be looking after little brother I think, in fairly safe circumstances, like playing in the park.... I think it's just a terrible event and I really can't imagine what the parents must be going through and terribly sorry for the little boys brother who will have to live with this event all his life.
