reason i ask is that ive had it several years and it was fitted by a qualified assistant in a tack shop. Ive always been very comfy in it and not questioned the fit until now ive come to replace it.

im going for a new racesafe 2010 and reading the literature my measurents are bang on in the childs xl standard back size, which is what my old one is that i have on in the pic. however i read that they are meant to come 25m under your ribs at the front and mine sits a fraction, maybe 1cm at the most under my bottom rib. i think although im quite short (5ft4) my ribs come down quite far if that makes sense? I tried on the adults xs and it was far too big round the arm holes and top and came right down to under my tummy button at the front. Am starting to worry im getting over paranoid about this now!ive phone treehouse and they reckon im bang on for the child xl. id never have questioned getting another childs xl before, lol - prob i have is that there is now no fitter near me at all... not within a 3-4 hour drive.

I wouldn't want to have one any longer in the back than that. I have the same bp (and same size) as you - borrowed a friends adult small and found it caught on the back of the saddle, my boy is pretty extravagant with his back end jumping!

I think it looks fine rule of thumb is that on the front it should cover the bottom rib by 2.5cms, basically so it covers your belly button and for the back it shouldn't interfear with the saddle cantle, so if your sitting in your saddle you should be able to have your little finger on the cantle and thumb/index finger touching your bp........ it does depend what you do on your geegee though,....sorry if that has all come out as blarb! :)

I think it looks fine.

I went to Treehouse last year to be fitted, they told me to bring my saddle I ride in. I have the 2010 in a childs XL

thank you:) lol, yeh i meant 25mm:o thats interesting to know,my lad is more extravagant in the back end than ive been previously used too.

the bottom of the front is no where near down as far as my belly button!

From your pic it looks a good fit. My groom is 5ft 4 ish and she wears an adult xxs (special order I think) or my 12 yr old daughter's one. In our tack shop they say you should fit your hand sideways between the bottom of the back and the seat of your saddle, and it should cover your lowest rib by approx an inch.

As for it covering your belly button - i've got at least 6 inches between my last rib and my belly button - AM I DEFORMED?

We could never find a shop with enough sizes to try them all before deciding so we ended up ordering several online then returning them. Yes it was costly of p&p but once we had the size we shopped around and ended up getting on new on ebay at quite a discount off the RRP.

lol, glad its not just be whose belly button is way under their ribs:cool:

do you think a new one will drop slightly? i tried one on today and of course it was more stiff than my old one.. but did just only sit a fraction under my ribs at the front instead of the 25mm.

With the rib measurement you have to remember where your ribs finish as your last rib is not attached to your sternum so is more towards your hips than you would expect. :D
