Just looked at forecast again and it is Cornwall and West/North Devon who are in for the worst battering. I hope my stables stay up, I worry more about them than the house! xx
Grim here too in Moretonhampstead, there was a river running down our field this morning, chicken and horses all really fed up. Off to check the forecast for myself now, we are intending spending all day tomorrow at the field doign fencing work!!
Pretty wet and grim in Combe Martin (North Devon). Although atm the sky is quite bright..now I've been out and got drenched walking the dogs!!! The 'stream' running round my house resembles a muddy brown rapids....
Flippin' awful here too (edge of Exmoor), gloomy, cold, windy, peein' with rain, neds in the stables pulling faces as the field shelter is knee deep in mud and there's torrents of water running over the paddocks.
My rescue hens are all huddled up in a miserable heap and asking if they could please go back to the nice warm battery sheds (!!)
The only person I know looking forward to tomorrow's storm is my OH...he's hoping the roads get blocked so he can't get to work..
It's like a monsoon here just north of Tiverton. My stupid neds are out (in full neck rugs)- they have a choice of in or out but if the wet goes on I am going to get them in.
Hmm, no riding for me tomorrow then...it's already pretty horrible here (Congresbury, south of Bristol) and the owner of the pony I exercise has called riding off for today.
It's not been to bad here (Bath) this morning, been raining continuely with sudden downpours and is a bit blowy, stuff is getting blown about, it has gotten worse now though, thank god I got the horses done earlier.
i hate it... step out of car and im wet and wind blown, had some one come to look at my horse and was up for riding him in the wind and rain,.. he didnt put a hoof wrong! and they all wanted to go back out even if it was to gallop to the bottom of the field to shelter!
we never know it may not be too bad tomorrow... met office are the expersts at getting it wrong! (fingers and toes crossed)
hmmm i have just nearly got blown away several times down the yard this afternoon! Glad I decided to hat and glove up and use control halter (otherwise known as leather cattle show halter with rope instead of chain
) because horses are at top of hill and could barely stand. The wind was going straight up their rugs causing them to ballon even with the ones with neck covers. boys were ok to bring in but went back for the girls and as soon as I led fleur through gate and to track the wind hit her and she went a bit loopy standing up on her back legs. Thankfully with one hand holding rope and one hand on her back to stop rug balloning was able to lead her down keeping in one piece. not fun at all and then proceeded to nearly go flying again when shutting the big solid wooden 10ft high gates!!!
