Does anyone else feel that the event could of done more with the going on sunday. We were on sunday in the OPN but when we walked the x-c nothing had been done to the take off and landings - no stone or dust not even rolled.
Come on T/A and stewards you can do better!!

I thought it was really bad in the SJ, XC you can hunt through and they had rolled it from teh night before. If you did teh OPN you were right at the end of a busy day. The SJ i thought was really bad and what I thought was really unfair was taht they moved teh course mid class, dont think thats on....

I agree about the sj - the going was terrible but the moved the course completely for the opn. But if they had rolled the course the night before i'm a dutchman.
I used to be an organiser of an event so I know what needs to be done.

I was in the OPN too and the ground was horrible, I retired on the xc as my horse really didnt like it. They never seem imo to have great ground there, two years ago I was competing in PC Area HT (nothing to do with BE I know) and its was so rutted after the BE event and they left it to dry out like that and it went rock solid.
I think they had 'rolled' the take offs and landings but not very well and the ground ended up being very sticky.

sw123 - I think they only moved the course after all the Novice sections were finished for the IN? I may be wrong..

They did roll it on Saturday night- the roller followed us round when we walked the course late pm. Perhaps they should have had landing and take offs with surfaces as other events do but I suppose that will be a consideration for next year. They were unlucky with the heavy rain but yes, the going was boggy/slippy.

I was in the Novice class on Sunday & i agree the ground was terrible. I thought the SJ warm up & ring could of had something more done to it, could they of moved the SJ ring to the other side of the warm-up for the sunday after the hammering it got on the sat? That space used to be taken up by a second SJ ring anyway so im sure that would of helped to give some fresh ground. Its difficult with the XC i think because evn if you fill the landings & take-offs the rest of the track is still deep & horses hitting heavy then firm ground is not the best thing to do. Even tho my horse absolutley hated the deep going, im glad the event ran as i really needed to get a good blow into him ready for Chatsworth, not sure i would of run a youngster on it tho TBH.

Jo Prestwich you end up being posted a proof in a few weeks time. She was at the broken bridge when I saw her.
