As some of you may know i have been umming and ahhing as to whether I should take my young inexperienced mare to this event. Now lots of you gave me some really good advice, about the whys and wherefores of not taking her, for example she could loose her confidence at such a big event etc.

Well, i'm sorry but i thought she was ready so i took her!! (slap wrists)

However, i am happy to report that she did an amazing dressage test (scoring 22.6)

, cleared the sj round with ease

, and dumped me at the 1st xc fence (like I thought she may)

.

Anyway got up dusted myself off, and we went round the whole course beautifully, every single scary obstacle jumped really well. Which did surprise me (lots of penalties for fall, but we were no worst for wear).

I met Butterbean, she was watching, and I'm glad she liked Ardra, she was going to a Horse Trials tomorrow and is syking herself up for it i think..p.s Good Luck Butterbean.

Anyway , i have decided that Ardra is going to be my Main Event horse, she was so laid back and enjoyed the whole day, not stressed at all, feel like a very proud mummy tonight..

That's an AMAZING dressage score! Are you sure you don't want to do dressage instead?! After all, not counting the fall you probably would have won by miles. Just don't come anywhere near any sections I might be competing in please!

It was nice to meet someone from HHO! Thought you did really well with her - very brave to keep going after the first fence but it got so much better after that.
She is absolutely GORGEOUS, I hope there are photos on the way!
(ps thanks for wishing me good luck for the HT tomorrow, it will be are extremely mini but I'm not as brave as you for Brooklyn's first time out!)

I wouldn't call myself brave (just a bit mad).

For a 1st time out i don't think it matters where you go or how high you jump, as long as you develop a trust with eachother you'll be fine..

Can you tell my trainer is a dressage freak!! She does prix st george etc, so get lots of cool advice and handy hints!!

Well done thats fab!! Bradwall was my horse's first intro two years ago and it took me over a minute to get him out the start box and over the first fence, he was just too overwhelmed by the atmosphere but once he realised it was jumping he was fine!

At your next event you'll have no probs.
Im off to Bradwall tomorrow and main concern is what is the ground like with the little rain we've had? I fell off there last year and broke my arm because the ground was so hard so am being a little cautious! Any info would be great

22.6!!!! Wow.. our ambition is to break the 30....!
What a fantastic start apart from the fall, but next time you will be ready, and can practice plenty of starts by hiring a course.

You can laugh, but after a start like that Badminton may be on the horizon one day..

Thanks ever so much for your comments, it really means alot to me, don't have much support at the yard (their all a bit bitchy - would rather talk about me falling rather than how good she was)

The ground was slightly hard, and a bit slippery under foot, got a nice big bruise (on my bum) to remind me!!

Good Luck all those competing today x

Wow! Well done! I'd love to be able to get scores like that! Must have been impressive to watch! I hope you're not too sore today!
