OH and I went, didnt enjoy it as much as previously. We both commented there seemed to be ages between each horse on the xc and if you went out through the woods the PA was not working so no idea of who you were watching or their score. Also not impressed with £5 to park the car! Have always loved Bramham but will not be going back. It would have been cheaper for me to enter one of the BSJA classes and not take the horse than pay gate prices.
i'm going tomorrow, i totally agree with you on the prices, that is one reason why i decided to go tomorrow as it is £6 cheaper to get in. hope you have left some bargains
Agree that £5 to park is a lot. Must be the novelty of it for me as I have never been!
One thing I couldnt believe was the price of the food and drink. We bought 3 ice cream cones and 2 bottles of water and it came to £10.50! That is just way too expensive!
Yeah i've just got back, had an ace day - only managed to watch one XC jump though and that was the water when we got in first thing ! Spend the rest of the day looking through all the shops and watching the show jumping and just wandering around. Had a fab day, my feet are killing now !!
I got back a few hours ago - I had a great day. We somehow managed to arrive without queueing in traffic, had a breakfast of fresh crepes (yum), and then I went and tried out some jumping flaps for my wow saddle on the mechanical horse and am hopefully now sorted with some new ones. We then headed out onto the XC course and managed to see WF-P, Mary King, Ollie Townend and many others. After that we hit the trade stands - I was quite restrained as I only came away with a set of supastuds, a show shirt and a top. (unless you count the wow flaps and then I suppose I will eventually part with a large amount of money!) I managed to bump into quite a few people I know and had a really good day out. I missed my instructors rounds in the BSJA though - 1.40m - gulp! she had 1 fence down in her first class and then in the second class her horse badly overreached and had another fence which was a shame.
I didn't think a fiver for the car park was too bad and at least it didn't rain.
Sounds like you had a busy , expensive but fun day.
Personally I found the car parking fee steep on top of an £18 per person entry fee and thought it was taking the piss as you have no choice but to park!
I've been with work today- I did meet a lovely lady from a bedding stand around the corner from us but I've forgotten her name (im quite bad with names!)
OH wants to go tomorrow and has promised me a 'present' of some sort so looks like Im going again... dont mind, its 5 mins from us and hopefully il be meeting some friends who i went to school with but havent seen in years!!
I went on Thursday and really enjoyed it as it was so quiet! I purposefully bought my tickets on-line in advance as if you did that you got a free parking pass as I too thought charging you to park was a cheek!
We go to Bramham every year and love it. The price was disappointing but not surprising, since the price of everything is rising isn't it. We'll book online next year though if it works out cheaper.
This year they had improved the viewing around the two arena they use for showjumping and pony club/showing. That was a very good move. There seemed to be more stands this year too and the weather was kind to us yet again.
The event course was an interesting one this year and it was good to see fewer people coming unstuck on the course.
We spent way too much money but on things we need and will use and there were still bargains to be had. Though the 'word' from one or two of the trade stands was that the really good bargains get snapped up on Thursday and Friday.
The atmosphere at Bramham is always friendly and easy going with everyone mingling and milling and having a very enjoyable day. It was great value overall. Can't wait till next year!
