Theres an old chap that walks in the area with a foal in hand...walks all around on the roads - I guess he is trying to get it out and about although it is very young, perhaps a yearling???
Anyway I saw him making his way along the road today so I stopped and told him about the hunt being in the area today, because I did not think he would want to meet them with a young horse in head collar and lead rope! Anyway he asked where they would be and it happened that he was heading to where they were meeting - so likely clash with them setting off!!!! He decided that he could not be bothered going back again and would risk it!!! He must be mad!

I suppose I was thinking more about safety of others - a foal in a headcollar on a busy road with the hunt careering past is not the most sensible of things to do and very difficult to justfy in litigation if the horse broke away and landed on someones car.

I do agree with foals being exposed to as many things as possible bearing in mind public safety.

No the law states all you need to do is comply with the highway code. There are no laws re tack or riding hats etc... Stupid i think but thats law for you!! I also believe in exposing foals to as much as possible as long as its safe. I dont class this personally as a safe thing to do so id go with the foolish
