Well... slightly dangerous of me, but after not being able to ride (we have no arena so I ride in the field weekly with my instructor and otherwise just hack) for over a week thanks to ice, and now being in lockdown and having my A Levels cancelled, we ventured out onto the roads today.
Surprisingly, it went well - absolutely freezing, and had a tiny slip on an upwards slope!
How are all of you coping with the cold weather?
Attached a video of my 'pet dragon'

I've been playing with groundwork in the school, and discovered today that Blue will happily lunge without a lungeline. Unfortunately, she still misbehaves in exactly the same ways as she does when lunging normally! So, while she was supposed to be walking sedately, she launched into trot, threw in a few massive bucks, a quick burst of canter, and then finally came back to walk - but did it all on a perfect circle. I'm not entirely convinced she realised there wasn't a line.

Hahahahaha this is amazing! I mean, at least she knows what she needs to do, albeit she did it in the worst way possible lol!

I've sat in front of the fire and watched lots of rubbish TV. There'll be plenty of time to ride when it's not frozen everywhere. I did manage a quick hack round the block on Sunday afternoon after the ice had thawed but I've been back in work since then. I normally ride before work in winter but there's no chance at the moment.

No chance round here. So much ice on the yard that I couldn't ride to the gate to get out onto the icy roads. A few inches of snow still on the arena so I'm well grounded and it looks like I'll be that way for a while yet.

We have a new indoor and the outdoor is good to use. Yesterday we braved the gallops which is in great condition for the racehorse yard. We'd intended to just walk up and back down but halfway up the 5f realised there was a racehorse at the top wanting to trot down and canter back up. We trotted the uphill 3f and then decided to get out of the lads way and go the long way back on the sand track. It was icy in places but a deep sand track so perfectly safe.

I'm glad we did because it was -7 overnight and it wasn't safe to get the horses to their fields today. He's having a duvet day and then will go in an arena with his sharer later.
