It's changed this year, 2024 BRC rules state "white, cream, beige, black, navy or any muted colour of breeches or jodhpurs may be worn", the 2023 rules didn't have the muted colour bit so grey wasn't previously allowed.
Ooh I must look this up - i was disappointed grey wasn’t previously allowed

I find some of the uniforms look a bit too blocky all in one colour. Outside of riding I wouldn't wear a black jumper with black trousers.

But a dark brown with a lighter brown tweed jacket or a mid grey with a dark jacket would look nice. I've got a grey blue tweed so a dark blue or blue grey would work..

That's what I've been slightly struggling with - normally I'd never wear black with black. I can see black or navy working with a lot of the tweeds though and maybe a light grey working with a black jacket?

Interesting portrait. Any idea who painted it and who the painter was? Thanks in advance.

Must have been on a related thread but I bought the beige riding tights with navy seat that someone posted a link to. I like them. Still light coloured but a navy bottom to match my jacket and divide up the block of light colour.

I wear black with black all the time 🤷‍♀️ default setting is black jeans with a black top and black ankle boots 😂

Me too.

I was told by someone years ago that you shouldn't wear black and navy together! 😭 Don't know if it's true.
You have to be careful with black and navy or black and brown if they're too close. You also get different shades of black with some having a more blue tone or items that have faded differently.

Comes down to personal taste and in some ways it's safe to wear all black but not for me. The pictures of people riding in all one colour just reinforced how much I'm not keen.

If forced into wearing a suit type thing with a jacket and skirt/trousers the same colour, I'd be the one doing something with a top to break it up but I'd rather work with tones.

I would love them to bring in this rule in France because I have huge thighs and am a dirt magnet - white is a real PITA! For the hunter jumping classes over here, you're actually not traditionally supposed to wear white breeches, and people compete in jodhs the same colour as their jackets or dark beige, for example.

Here's some photos of a local RC competition if it helps anyone with ideas:

And lots of photos on the official Hunter page:
