BRC Quadrille and DTM at Aintree

I think I'm going to watch the quadrille tomorrow night - which team are you on Bubblegum? -I'll give you a cheer!!!😃

Went to Aintree as planned to watch the quadrille tonight. What a fab competition! We really enjoyed it. The best four teams qualified according to my group and from what I overheard from the people around us, but everyone had gone to such efforts, they can all be proud of themselves!

trottingon, which 4 teams went through? We had to leave to catch the train back to Liverpool, but all seemed to enjoy it :D Also now thinking of having a RC side-saddle taster day after that display!

The Quadrille teams going to Olympia are -
Moat View (Paradise)
Bath ( Big Top)
Cornwall Trec (Knights)
Saffron Walden (Life on he Ocean Wave)

Sorry may not have got the team names quite right but clubs are correct! Thirteen teams in total, and the standard was very very high across the board.

Bubblegum, we loved the 'drunken sailor' part especially - made even better by the reaction of one of the stewards - he thought they'd fallen off and was about to run in!

Haha... :D
Well, we wanted to do something a bit different!
We are glad the audience and judges liked it. :)

Hi Twiggy, the Knights were really good and deserved to qualify.
We thought the Birds of Paradise were the most accurately coordinated group and were seriously good to watch, but the Life on the Ocean Wave were also really tight regarding movements and coordination, and had the most entertaining display which is why they were our favourite. The drunken sailor was sooo funny and the sails at the end were really clever!
Well done and thanks for entertaining us! Good luck for Olympia xxx

Have just got home. Brill weekend. Thought 'life on ocean wave' was the best of all. Gutted for the Busy Bees they were excellent and so close to qualifying for the final.
Whole weekend really well run. Hope to qualify again next year.

The work that goes into producing the quadrilles is truly magnificent, congratulations to the four teams that are going to Olympia, and to the teams that did not make the final four, try again, and come back.

Well done!!!!!::

We had a fantastic weekend, with both of our teams finishing equal 6th with each other, just 4 marks off qualifying. Very proud of all the horses and riders and some good lessons learnt for next time (ie don't decide to alter your costumes with 30 minutes to go!!).

Must just say although the stables were fab I was very suprised about the lack of exercise space and with so many horses competing that weekend you would have thought they would have had someone stewarding the narrow horse track that took you down to the arena. Did get a bit dangerous at busy times with people trying to pass each other.

However the atmosphere was fantastic and we all really enjoyed the weekend, would definately like to go again when we will try and be a little more organised and prepared!!

So glad you enjoyed yourselves, and do please try again! It's fine to use the same theme again too, so maybe with the judges comments to work from you'll find those few extra marks!
The lack of exercise space was a problem, but was soley due to the ground in the centre of the racecourse and on the gallops being flooded. At least the new all weather surface by the stable alleiviated the problem a bit, though I would agree that it would have been better if more exercise space had been available. As it was it was a waste of time and effort on the part of the BRC staff packing the boards and markers for two outdoor practice arenas.

I am assuming from the above that you work for/with the BRC team? If so just a note that we were a little disapointed that they have stopped doing the commemorative plaques that you used to be able to buy, they were a great momento - I've still got mine from years ago. Just something to consider reintroducing next year as we wern't the only club who would have liked them!

Not surprised with the qualifiers good to see some old names back.

First time I haven't watch/ridden/been a part of quadrille in about 5 years (must say left me with more free time! :D)

Best of luck to all those involved for Olympia! It's such a buzz. Also kudos to all the members/ground crew etc... Unless you've been involved you have no real idea of the time hard work and often bitchyness that goes on! (well it is a lot of women after all!)

Hopefully will be back next year for the DTM and will have fun watching the quadrille.

I am involved with BRC as a volunteer and act as an official at most championships in one capacity or another :)
I believe that plaques are returning for next year. 2012 was a special year and a lot of thought went into the design of the commemorative rosettes to reflect that so I hope you still enjoyed them even though I'd be the first to agree that a rosette isn't quite the same as a plaque.
