BRC training/exams

I thought this was a great way to do the BHS exams.

But not enough people in my club want to do it to warrant the training.
Even though the cost is a fraction of the standard BHS exams.

Ive contacted the BHS/BRC and they are looking in to it for me.

Ive now got to contact other local riding clubs to see if i can train with them instead.

Anyone else think it was a good idea and shocked at the lack of interest?

We are trying to promote them in my part of the world. When I approached the individual riding clubs to offer training they said there was no interest. When I advertised the training courses privately, I was inundated with interest from RC members We are starting the course tonight. It will be run partly as a BHS Horse Owners Cert course, and partly as a BRC exams training course. People can take the HOC exam here, and can join up with other RCs a few miles away to take the exams.

No idea why there is such a general lack on interest in such a brilliant scheme, although perhaps individual clubs don't advertise the possiblity to their members?

Yes is seems strange about the lack of interest.

My club doesnt seem to have advertised it much, just on the website if you search for it, adverts on the facebook page would probably be better.
I spoke to the bhs and they were so helpful advising what could be done.
I then went back to my club to tell the what i had learn and she was positively "off" with me!

So im emailing local clubs to try and get in on their training instead!

To run a 1 and 2 is very straightforward and cheap to do, and you wouldn't need very many people to make it work. 3 & 4 are done by Area, but you still don't need huge numbers, and like you say, it's a much cheaper way of doing some worthwhile exams without going down the "professional" Stages route. They are quite good to do as a practice for the stages as well, although they are not quite up to the level needed for the stages.
